Operation: Shutdown (Day 11) - A letter to the NFL

Commissioner Goodell,

I am writing to you, not as a Redskins fan (for which I never was and will be), not as a Ravens fan (for which I always will be), but as a FOOTBALL fan, that we seriously need to end this hogwash about the Redskins name.

This has been going on far too long and it's time to face facts: the name of the franchise will never change and that's the bottom line.

While I respect the Native Americans and their reasoning behind the needing of the switch as the word "REDSKIN" is considered offensive to certain groups, you know as good as I do that owner Daniel Snyder is NOT going to change name of the team. A number of groups have already stated that the name of the team does not offend. So... let's just leave it at that OK?

Politics and sports do not mix. NFL Football is a $10,000,000,000 enterprise, this about a team's name is small and petty potatoes.

I feel as though that this needs to stop and that we need to worry about the bigger problems that are plaguing the NFL:

1) We need to worry about the concussion suit and the lies that the NFL has been slandering former players with saying that: Concussions are not serious.

2) We have way too much favoritism in this league. No team is above the rest.

3) There needs to be contingency plans in place when teams cannot play their respective home games due to weather or another sporting event is in place in that team's town.

4) While the NFL is becoming a world franchise and global entity, playing international games and having one or the other team lose a home game to me just doesn't seem very fair. Let's keep the games in the states.

5) One city scouting needs to stop. Open the scouting combine to other cities besides Indianapolis.

6) College football scouting needs to expand to other divisions as well. Open the scouting combine to Division II and III athletes as well. They can play the game just as well as FBS and FCS.

7) SUPER BOWL TEAMS DO NOT BELONG OPENING ON THE ROAD REGARDLESS OF THE LOGISTICS!!!!

That's just a few of my complaints, Mr. Commissioner.

Thank you,
~ Joshua
