Christmas Day 2014: The Reading of John 1:1-5, 9-14

Hello,

A Very Merry Christmas to you all... As promised, this is the reading of John 1:1-5 and 9-14:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.
In Him was life, and that life was the Light of men.
And the Light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
That was the true Light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.
He came unto His own, and His own received Him not.
But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwell among us, we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

May the Peace of God which surpasses all understanding, keep your hearts and minds through faith in Christ Jesus now and forever

Amen,
~ Joshua

Christmas Morning: Letter to Nansy

A Prelude: Audrey "Nansy" Maggio died at the Age of 89 from Stage IV cancer on June 12, 2014 at 4:25am. It was a hard time for my fiance's very large family. But not only that, it gave me a lot to think about as well.

At the funeral... Patrick, my fiance's uncle said the words: "Good-bye Mom... say hi to Dad for us." It tore everyone apart. Even me.

I decided to dedicate a memorial Poinsettia for her for Christmas. This is my letter to her... 6 months later.

---

Nansy,

I hope you are doing well up there in Heaven with the rest of the angels, archangels, and your husband Salvatore. We sang Joy to the World, O Come All Ye Faithful... Silent Night... And all I could do was smile because it is Christmas.

I can happily say the family is doing extremely well. They've been going along their way ever since you left to meet with God our creator and the chorus of angels amongst him. You have no more pain, suffering, or anything. I'm sure you having some drinks at the bar, dancing with Salvatore, eating good meals, and having your constitutionals with God. I'm sure God has a great sense of humor. I hope Robin Williams is making you laugh up there too.

Nans, they say in the song: "O Holy Night," that the "weary world rejoices." The world does rejoice but it's so difficult to celebrate without you here. Everyone took your death very hard. It was like a nail driven through our hearts. I knew that 10 months was a very short time to have known you but... you gave me a lot to think about after your passing.

First, you told me that I need to go visit my grandparents a little more often. And I have been, which I hope is making everyone happy.

Second, you told me to take care of your granddaughter Joanna. Yep, I certainly have been. We're getting married on November 7th, 2015. We seriously wish you could be there but I know you are going to be watching us from up there saying: "She looks marvelous, doesn't she Sal...?"

Third, I learned that this family has 100% accepted me. There were times when I just didn't feel accepted but... I feel so accepted by your family that you grew to be good people.

I remember the first day I met you and you took an IMMEDIATE shine to me. I don't know what I did, but I was a smash hit right from the start.

I hope you don't mind but... I did get a Poinsettia for you for Christmas, put your name in the bulletin with a dedication from Joanna and I. I'm going to bring it to the family Christmas party in the afternoon.

When I was up singing the hallelujah chorus, I hope you heard me there. You could put all the choirs of the world together and it would be an extremely powerful sound that reaches the heavens above.

You should've seen all your great-grandchildren and your son-in-law do "The Night Before Christmas" A tradition that's been hanging with this fam for awhile. They also had their typical shrimp feast too.

The family is doing just fine and we're all happy it's Christmas. We all miss you.

----

Nansy, in closing, we all love and miss you. Holidays and the beach will not be the same without you. I may have came full circle at the right moment but now, it just pains me that I won't be able to do it again.

You left a little part of you in everyone. They still talk about you and wish you were around. And like you, we know we all have to take our final bow and leave the Earth.

I promise that I am going to take care of Joanna. Her and I have so much to think about before Nov. 7, 2015. We only wish you were going to be there with us. But we know you and Sal will be there in spirit.

I'm sure the rest of your family will have something to say as well.

Merry Christmas and check in on us every now and again.

Christmas Eve Sermon 3: An Ultimate Gift

"GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST! AND ON EARTH! PEACE AND GOODWILL TOWARDS ALL!!!"

Hello,

Have you ever had that day where you were so happy about a gift you got that you thought it was one of the best presents of all time? To me, that was the case. Getting a stuffed animal (seal) at 7... Top Gear 3000 when I was 10... $100 every Christmas Morning... or the year my family went to see Double Dare Live back in 1994.

But to me, those gifts had something that we all used: Money.

I realized more and more that these gifts cost money and that I had a gift that we received each Christmas that my family was failing to recognize each year.

Tonight, I had the privilege of going to a 4:00pm mass at St. Agnes Catholic. This was where my fiance went to church with her family. We saw Tommy and Ryan come out as 2 of the 3 kings and Cassie noted there was another "wardrobe malfunction" because Tommy's crown didn't particularly fit his head correctly.

What began with "O Come All Ye Faithful" (sort of muted due to the fact they don't really have a pipe organ) to the readings... I kept thinking to myself...

We reached the homily/sermon and Father Harris delivered a message about gifts. Everyone's going to be waking up at 4... 5... 6... 7... am to open up gifts. I know Joanna's family will be but I won't be there to begin the morning like I did last year as I will be opening up gifts with my family at my sister's house.

One of the things that I told you about last season was the fact that our ULTIMATE GIFT is Jesus himself. Jesus is the center of Christianity and today we welcome him into our world.

--

But doesn't it aggravate you that it is the same message every year? Why can't it be different?

It just can't because it is the same important message every year.

--

Let me tell you a little story about how death wasn't going to take a holiday.

--

The story begins with all of the MASH personnel receiving their gifts from home only to be notified by Klinger that the food that they ordered for their holiday party with the Korean children would not come. So in the spirit of giving, the MASH personnel gave their food from home, however Major Winchester only gave over a small can of sardines despite getting 4 large packages from home (hence the Ebenezer Scrooge reference).

Later in the episode, he takes the chocolate and other items of note to a Korean orphanage, the man who ran the orphanage happily accepted the gift. Winchester said that the gift must remain: "anonymous" as it was an old family tradition.

The next day was Christmas and everyone was ready for the festivities to begin. However, a soldier was brought in from the field who was allegedly left out in the cold. Major Houlihan rushed to the soldier to check him. As BJ and Hawkeye were readying themselves for the party, they were called upon by Houlihan to check the soldier. They set up the operating room for him and rushed him in.

During the surgery, Houlihan said it was no use and they would have to just let him go. But BJ had another idea that Houlihan initially objected to but agreed to because she felt the same way BJ did about keeping him alive long enough to not have the soldier's kids remember Christmas as, "the day their daddy died."

Meanwhile, everyone was having fun at the holiday party except for Winchester because he was being a total scrooge about the can of sardines he gave over. Then Winchester was notified that his candy shipment to the orphanage was sold to the black market by the owner. He took the owner and angrily demanded that he get the candy back. Klinger was on the other hand listening in. The man said he couldn't because the money was gone. He pleaded forgiveness but he emphasized that it would've brought great joy to the children for a few moments but... what he sold it for was enough rice and cabbage to feed the children for a full month.

Winchester realized what the man had did was completely unselfish and then said: "It's not appropriate to give one dessert when he hasn't had dinner." He was incredibly distraught about his selfishness and retired to his tent.

Meanwhile, back in the operating room, Hawkeye, BJ, Houlihan were doing the best they could to keep the man alive past Christmas. Father Mulcahy joined the group after being alerted by Colonel Potter about the man's moribund condition.

Klinger, who overheard that spat, brought dinner to Winchester and claimed that the source of the dinner was to remain "anonymous" as it was an "old family tradition." Winchester remembered what he had said to the owner of the orphanage. He turned to Klinger and said: "Thank you, Max." Then Klinger replied with, "Merry Christmas... Charles."

Back in the operating room, it was 11:30pm, and they were incredibly close to delaying his death long enough to go past Christmas. However, the soldier's pulse was lost and BJ demanded more surgery but Hawkeye said: "No... It's over, let's let him rest." Houlihan said when it came to death... there was no band, no nothing... She worked on getting the certificate of death but then Hawkeye came up with a brainstorm to fix the situation. He saw the clock, opened it, push the big hand past 12 and said: "Look he made it... Time of death, 12:05, December 26." Houlihan didn't like the idea of "falsifying the record" however Mulcahy calmed her saying: "Christmas should be thought of as a time of birth."

As they came out knowing they missed the Christmas party for the children, Colonel Potter dressed as Santa said they were "good little boys and girls." He had a gift for them. A Korean boy held up a plate and said: "Fudge," Potter said it was the last four piece. Each one took a piece and BJ said: "Merry Christmas."

--

That episode of MASH drew more than 66.2 million viewers because the it was so surreal and most of all it was upsetting because death almost took a holiday.

--

Tonight everyone, no matter where you are, why don't you take you and your family to church tonight and enjoy the peace, love, and support of God while you are witnesses to Christ's birth.

Tonight is a holy, magical, and starry night (Though this is probably one of the foggiest christmases I've ever been a part of). It's also a fun night.

Tonight, sing to the high heavens above, let the Angels and the Glory of the Lord hear you! O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL! JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT!

Tonight is the night that we bear witnesses to our savior's birth. The weary world does rejoice today amongst all the protests and darkness that has been prevalent in the last few months.

And when you are with your families today and tomorrow... remember those who are less fortunate... people who don't have enough... military families who lost a member fighting in a war or are still overseas not able to see their loved ones... we also remember loved ones who are lost.

I do want to say a special Merry Christmas to Audrey Maggio, for whom this blog is dedicated to. This is the Fraziers first Christmas without her. I also want to say good bye to Mr. Andrew as well as he passed away at the age of 58 from a brain hemorrhage.

Tonight... Let us be joyful and sing high praises.

And before you open that gift tomorrow, just remind yourself of who you have to be thankful that Christmas is here and alive.

Thank you everyone, Merry Christmas, and enjoy.
~ Joshua

Christmas Eve Sermon 2: Athena's Letter

Good Evening,

Tonight, I want to share with you a letter from a 8-year old girl stricken with an inoperable cancer. It was really upsetting to find out that she wasn't going to make it.

---

Dear Joshua,

How are you? Thanks for the present you gave me and bringing a smile to my face with that present. My mom and dad told me that the doctors told them that this would be potentially be my last Christmas because the cancer is getting aggressive and there's no chance I'm going to live to see my 9th birthday. I've always wanted to know what your Christmases are like. Christmas is definitely a fun time of the year where we sing carols, hymns of joy, rejoicing... I just wish I was well enough to sing. I know that I am going to be joining God in heaven soon and my mom and dad seem to be prepping for when that day comes. I'm really scared when that day comes. I've been holding Yoshi very close to me like he was a big teddy bear. I'm sure Yoshi is crying next to me because he knows that day is coming too.

You made me very happy and I hope you make others happy this Christmas too. I'm really sorry I forgot the picture. I hope mom and dad find it for me.

With Love,
Athena

---

Athena,

God has a place for those who believe in his word and Heaven is open to believers. I'm really glad that big Yoshi made you smile and you are holding him close. Remember when Mary was told to fear not when she was going to be the mother of Jesus? Fear not, for you will be with the good lord above in Heaven when that day comes. They say we don't know when we are going to pass on or when our time on Earth is over. I wish I had better answers as I do follow Christ and his word. I remember a show that my fiance and I watch called "The Golden Girls" when one of the characters asks her ghost husband Salvatore, "How's God?"

Sal says: "God!? Oh he's really nice! You should see his Cadillac!"

I'm sure God has a Cadillac up there in heaven, throngs of people just waiting to see him and speak with him. I'm sure he makes time for each and every angel that's up there. You know, when my fiance's grandmother died, a little part of me went with her too because even though I only knew her for 10 months, she took a piece of me with her... When my grandparents go, they'll take a piece of me, my brother, and sister up with them as well. You will sing with Choirs of Angels, hymns of great praise and joy, you won't have to worry about pain and suffering anymore.

I know the doctors did all the best they could for you. You just tell them that God will thank them for their service as well. I just hope this letter arrives to you with warmth and care. God thanked me for his service and I prayed long and hard that you would get better and he would take away your suffering. I know he will. Just believe in him.

Let me tell you about my Christmases. Christmas has become so different ever since I got engaged. A long time ago, my family and I would typically go to church around 730 because my brother, sister, and I had to sing. We'd have our grandparents with us as well to share the moment. Now, my family doesn't even attempt to go to church on Christmas Eve and that makes me really sad. The message of Christ's birth is so important.

After 730 church was over, St. Paul (which is where I went before) would typically have a hour-long refreshments and party. People would talk, gather, and enjoy themselves. By 1030, we were ready for the primary service which had an actual funny message from our pastor. It was the one time Pastor Morthole wasn't serious. He took joy in his message to the masses.

A sermon at Christmas should always by joyous and happy. It really should be.

Athena, I really hope that Yoshi you are holding close to you and Jesus are keeping you in good company. Just have no fear. Live life as fully as you can. Nothing to be afraid of this Christmas or ever for that matter.

Love always,
Joshua

---

My faith in God has never dwindled one bit. I learned that church is very important for our health and spiritual fixture in life. Even when I went without a church for 10 years from 2000 to 2010, my faith never dwindled.

Christmas is always my favorite time of year. Advent is officially over with and now I can be a witness to our savior's coming. It's about the giving and the sharing of the family time. I sit here with a smile on my face knowing that it's not the gifts that matter, it's about the fact that because of Jesus, Christmas is in existence.

---

The War on Christmas has driven everyone nuts from religious figures to television pundits. But in the end, Jesus won.

I don't thump my religion or tell others to believe. They believe what they want. But Jesus is the reason why we have Christmas.

---

Evening Prayer:

Lord,

Tonight, you sent us your ultimate gift, a gift of love, a gift that will save us from the tyranny of sin, a gift that is the most powerful on Earth. Help us to realize that Christmas is a night of joy, rejoicing, laughter, and family. A night that we spend together singing hymns of great joy... A night we spend together with candlelight and our joy to the world. Christmas Day will be upon us and we will celebrate your birth, the birth of a great king.

Amen.

---

Folks, God Bless You this wonderful Christmas.

Christmas Eve Sermon 1: Postcards from Bethlehem

Good Morning,

As Santa prepares for his ultimate journey across the world to deliver toys, goodies, and gadgets to the good little children and coal and whippings to the bad children.

We pause to reflect on this Christmas about how are taught to love one another and appreciate the good things that we have. However, we forget those less fortunate. There's a saying in the bible: "and the meek shall inherit the Earth."

We do forget those who are less fortunate. Everyone just seems so greedy at Christmas time. Have we lost our ways in terms of charity?

Charity since 2000 has dropped more than 18% according to Forbes Magazine and it has sent a consistent drop. More and more people just don't seem to care about the poor, just themselves. Well, I did donate a few dollars to a few groups and the wounded warrior project as well.

Now do you realize in the bible that the wise men gave gifts to Jesus. Mary and Joseph were poor and had no money. You can say they were technically donations to help the family get on their feet. Sure it sounds questionable but... don't you think you should pull out your wallet sometime and donate some of your money? How about donating some of your time to a local shelter and helping out.

Why don't you sponsor a kid like I did...? Good lord, these guys need help!

---

If you are talking about charity then why is this blog called "POSTCARDS FROM BETHLEHEM"?

---

Oh, well it's a mailbag thing.

Anyway, here's a postcard from Mary and Joseph.

It says:

Dear Josh,

Well, we made it. It's been a great time here in Bethlehem. Mary gave birth to a baby boy we named Jesus. I'm such a proud papa right now. We did receive some unexpected visitors though through the night. First we got some shepherds who gave us a lamb and a little boy gave us his flute. Then we had three wise men come here. They gave us a box of gold, some frankincense, and myrrh. Are these gifts supposed to foreshadow something coming to our child? Anyway, there was this loud voice telling us to leave Bethlehem because King Herod was looking for us because he was tricked. We're currently in Egypt right now and we're ok. Just writing you to let you know that we are.

~ Mary and Joseph ~

---

Well folks, that is the Christmas story right there in that postcard. It was a very scary time for them when Herod found out he was tricked by the wise men. Herod wasn't going out to worship the LORD, he was going to effectively kill Christmas. He found out someone was potentially going usurp his power as he proclaimed himself: "KING OF THE JEWS"

Christmas would've effectively been destroyed had Jesus been killed during the "massacre of the innocents" which is found in the narratives of both Matthew and Luke. Scholars dispute the number of innocents killed that day.

There would be no Christmas if it wasn't for the birth of Christ, much less the gift-giving without what the wise men did for Jesus that day.

People, it's really time to get your acts together and remember that JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!

---

Tomorrow, we will have the Christmas Day reading from the book of John. Did you know that the Gospel of Mark doesn't have a nativity narrative? Yet it does contain an apparent important message.

"In the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God; As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send the messenger before they face, which shall prepare thy way before thee, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make his paths straight." - Mark 1:1-3

Merry Christmas Eve Everyone,
Joshua

Christmas Eve 2014: The Readings of Matthew and Luke

Hello,

Good Christmas Eve to you all

Here is the first reading from the book of Matthew 1:18-25

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
---

Here is the second reading from the book of Matthew 2:1-13, 15

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

---

Here is the third reading from the book of Luke 2:1-20

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

You fans don't know how good we have it with #5

Hello,

Ravens fans, you are so completely foolish to why we won Super Bowl 47 way back when. I hear, oh just a lucky playoff run...

No... It was more him leading us down the field and the defense coming up big. Joe's the leader of the offense, what more do you want?

He became the first quarterback in playoff history to average 20 yards a completion in 1 game. There's a mindblowing stat... but it's okay... you don't care.. Boldin bailed him out... Smith bailed him out...

JOE HAD TO THROW THE BALL TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Joe had a bad game vs. Houston. But he doesn't seem to be ENTITLED to those bad games. Rodgers, Brady, Manning, and everyone else are entitled to bad games, because they are consistent with their stats and your fantasy football teams.

Do you realize how good we have it? But like I said in my last blog. You are using FANTASY FOOTBALL and his stat sheet as a weapon against him. There's a more important stat: WINS with him under center!

I want to remind all you Ravens fans of how good WE HAVE IT with Joe as our starter,

First and most importantly, the Ravens have won 64% OF THE GAMES with him under center. 80-45 as a starter. Wins are the most important statistic in a game! Not the numbers he puts up!

First 5 seasons: 5 playoff runs, 9 wins, a Super Bowl Championship, Of those 9 playoff wins: 7 WINS ON THE ROAD!!!!!!!

We went through 15 different quarterbacks in a period of 12 years... Man, look at some of the teams we went through. Boller, McNair, Zeier, Zorn, Case, Banks, Grbac... We were stupid for not keeping Dilfer... But again, look at who we went through.

He has a bad game but wins: There's immediate criticism. HE WON THE GAME THOUGH! But to you, that don't matter. He's on your fantasy team, he didn't help YOU WIN!

IRON TOUGH: 125 STRAIGHT STARTS and hasn't missed one!!!!!

He has a good game but loses: He didn't lead us! But he helped my fantasy football team!
We have one of the best quarterback situations in the game: STABILITY!!!!!Do you really want the situation in Washington, Jacksonville, New York, Oakland, Tampa Bay... etc.

His cool demeanor. Do you want a brash talking quarterback who thinks he's the very best in the game and in the end he turns out to be a flop? Hmmm. Ryan Leaf leads that example. "I'm looking forward to a 15-year career, a couple of trips to the Super Bowl, and a parade through downtown San Diego." Yep! Brash talking! and guess what, HE FLAMED OUT DIDN'T HE. Flacco doesn't like talking about himself. But when he finally spoke up and said something. Everyone laughed at him! But guess what, he got redemption in Super Bowl 47 now didn't he. He backed up that one hint of BRASHNESS! But after that, he shut up because everyone laughed at him.

You want a HEISMAN WINNER! GUESS WHAT! THE HEISMAN CURSE!!!! Look at some of the quarterbacks who won it and FLAMED OUT!!!!! Tebow, Torretta, Ware, Beban, Leinart, Griffin III, Troy Smith, Weinke, Wuerffel! A Heisman winner DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY GUARANTEE HE'S GOING TO BE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS! Only 5 out of 78 players who have won the Heisman went to the hall, only 1 is a quarterback.

You expect him to be perfect in every game: WELL GUESS WHAT! NO QUARTERBACK IS PERFECT! Flacco threw for 5 TD and 306 yards vs. Tampa Bay and... wow, you say, it's because he played a bad team.. Aren't you supposed to beat up BAD TEAMS!?

Played injured in a total of 4 games... That's Johnny Unitas like!!!!!

---

Some of these teams play better than their records indicate which is the example with Houston. The defense didn't come up big in situations. Might I remind you that the DEFENSE is apart of the game too. JOE DOES NOT PLAY DEFENSE!!!!!!! Oh but it's all his fault we lost!

---

I'm thinking about boycotting football next year until Joe Flacco gets some sort of respect for the way he manages and plays well enough to win. You all want a first round pick to be spent on a quarterback to give Joe a little oomph to tell him to play better. Again... you are using his stats against him, when he's got more than enough of the biggest stat: WINS.

You can't have both... You must be out of your minds.

---

Joe,

You ultimately have my respect. I don't care about the stats you put up in the game, I care about the fact that we won the game with you under center. You are the reason why we're consistent winners.

People just need to stop with their bullishness and let you play ball. If you don't put up the stats but still managed the win, guess what, you won the game! That's the most important statistic.

Thanks for being our quarterback! You are the leader of this team. I don't care if you don't have anything you want to say to the media. Screw them! Screw ESPN! You play YOUR game

~ Joshua

Fantasy Football: You don't deserve your trophy

Hello,

You didn't win nothing... so put that fake ass trophy down!

To you fantasy football players, ATTENTION...! Put your fake trophies down....! Stop celebrating...! and above all... understand how the valuable the game REALLY ISN'T and look how badly it's harming your favorite teams! You expect them to put up good stats so you can win, but do you guys not realize how dangerous that is? You want your team to win too, but you can't have BOTH! You are forgetting the most IMPORTANT STATISTIC!!!!!

I played fantasy football for 7 years and basically, the gleam of the game just completely wore off. I had 159 wins, but lost 154 games, and tied 3. But then I realized, this is absolutely no fun.

You pick your team of course and then they have to play good in order for you to win... But then I realized more and more that the game itself has turned into an addiction and a total weapon. Fans don't care about the games anymore, they only care about how their players do in fantasy football.

Now let me reiterate how fantasy football is used as a weapon:

As a Ravens fan, my favorite player is Joe Flacco, as a neutral fan, my favorite player is Russell Wilson.

And since Joe Flacco gets the most scrutiny... He's our example

Joe Flacco has been the most under appreciated quarterback ever since he walked into the league in 2008. He doesn't put up mind-blowing stats and that is completely understandable, I don't ask him to do that. What he does is play WELL ENOUGH TO WIN. You Ravens fans are using fantasy football as a weapon against YOUR OWN QUARTERBACK who has been constantly winning games yet he's not putting up the stats for your stupid fantasy football league!!

Fantasy Football Ravens fan: "Aw man, Flacco sucks! He only threw for 186 yards and 1 TD..."

Non Fantasy Football Ravens fan: "Ravens won though."

Fantasy Football Ravens fan: "I know but Flacco didn't give me a good game! He needs to put up better stats and win me my league!"

Wait, isn't the most important statistic: Wins?

If you are a fan of the team, you should be worried about if they are going to win or not with the man under center or if the defense will come up huge with a stand. You should be worried about the wins.... NOT THE STATS FOR YOUR FANTASY LEAGUE!

Fantasy football has turned into a weapon for the national media. I hear all this bull about Flacco not putting up the stats, YET do you guys understand he's helping WIN BALL GAMES!!!!! Everyone says that QB Wins should not be counted... Oh, then why do I constantly see Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Stafford, and others constantly measured by their quarterback wins. Flacco, is not allowed this statistic, because he's measured by his stats for fantasy football. I see a double negative and standard! Again, you do realize that stats are NOT IMPORTANT, it's if the team wins the game that's the most important

This year, we were 4 plays away from being 12-3 and all of that was due to the defensive problems the team had.

No you use the: Oh but Joe didn't lead us excuse!

WHERE'S THE BLAME FOR THE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He threw for 362 yards with 3 TD, I thought that'd help your fantasy team. IT DIDN'T! WE LOST THE GAME! BECAUSE JOE DIDN'T LEAD US!

Ok folks, let me remind you again:
YOU! CAN'T! HAVE! BOTH!

All I keep seeing is blogs about under performance of Joe, why he's underwhelming, not putting up mind-blowing stats for FANTASY OWNERS...

(Record Rips)

Fantasy owners? Tell me again, why FANTASY OWNERS ARE SO IMPORTANT? If he has an underperforming game, say... 175 yards yet a game-winning touchdown in the end...  HE WON THE GAME, add a win to his QB Record! Ravens fans! Be happy we won! It doesn't matter if you win 49-48 or 36-0, he helped WIN THE GAME!

But you the Ravens fan whine and moan, that he didn't help your fantasy league!!! Ok, then I think we need to add a new metric to fantasy football: If your player wins the game, add an extra 2 points per player, if not... you don't get any. Make it more relevant.

----

You guys pick players from other teams and wins from other teams that shouldn't matter to you at all. What matters is their stats. So guess what, let me remind you again. If they lose and put up mind-blowing stats. You go ha-ha! AGAIN:

YOU! CAN'T! HAVE! BOTH!

This is why fantasy football has turned into a completely DANGEROUS weapon against players. They have to put up mind blowing stats for fans for them to win their leagues, yet if they don't win, they instantly suck!

----

This is why I stopped played fantasy football, because stats are being used as a weapon against the players, if they win the game, it doesn't matter because they didn't help YOU WIN. While we may pay for a good product on the field and you all say he's not producing the stats that earned him his contract... I might want to remind you again, you can't have both... If he's winning games, he's earning his contract.

I say to you... fantasy football again is a weapon...

----

I'm done with fantasy football FOREVER!

Questions to the Editor IX: A Fireside talk

Again, we have to abide by the rules. The Interviewer's name will not be revealed. He will simply be called "person."

Person: Josh, been awhile...

Me: Yep, work, life, and everything in between

Person: What's your take on the Brooklyn murders and the recent influx of cop murders in the last few days.

Me: You don't want my opinion and trust me, if I say what I said, I'd get in trouble. Look, I have a lot of faith in the Lord and believe me, I don't think he'd want to hear what I'd have to say. Our law enforcement is doing their very best. It's just a terrible time these guys are going through right now. Everyone seems to hate police right now. Eric Garner's family condemned it, yet they are rocking the boat when it comes to these protests. Al Sharpton say he's getting death threats, well he's bringing it on himself. Maybe people need to just sit their butts down and say: "Why are we doing this... we're not solving anything."

Person: What do you think of the Mayor of New York.

Me: Bill de Blasio is probably the biggest savage on the planet. He's taking away some of the most historic items that NYC has had since the 1800s like horse drawn carriages. De Blasio (aka Mayor Big Bird) is just egging the protests on and now the NYPD (who had a lot of class) want him to resign in the wake of this and he's taking a lot of heat from the teacher's unions of NYC too. De Blasio completely ignored what happened with NY's finest. The mayor IGNORED THE WARNINGS FROM BALTIMORE COUNTY POLICE TOO! Yeah, way to go Warren Wilhelm! That's his actual name: Warren Wilhelm.

Person: Commissioner Batts was accused of using the wrong choice of words when a cop near Mondawmin was gunned down.

Me: Stephanie Rawlings-Blake needs to shut her ass up. She was standing RIGHT THERE when he made those comments. Does she not understand that Commissioner Batts made a good choice in words saying: Where are the protests for those on the line of duty. They don't deserve this.

Person: And you don't suppose...

Me: Look I have friends in the order of police. They are ones that put on their lives on the line. If you can't support them, stand in front of them.

Person: Moving on to another topic... Ready for Christmas?
Me: Absolutely, Christmas is a great time of the year! It's a night where we marvel at the birth of our savior! Shopping done... Food bought... we're set!

Person: You really ripped into atheists lately... what's up with that?

Me: If you look at the stat sheet, atheists have managed to win 90% of the cases involving one person complaining about so called "OFFENSIVE" Christmas decor and nativity scenes. This year alone, 190 lawsuits, they won 157, lost 22, deadlocked 11 of them. There should be no war on Christmas. Christ is the reason for the season.

Person: Why a war on Christmas?

Me: Atheists find ways to try and kill the season. If there was no Jesus, we'd have no Christmas. Without the wise men? No gift-giving! It would just be another day on the calendar. I expressed my thoughts in an earlier blog.

Person: What's your favorite food of the Christmas season?

Me: Probably ham and apple pie. I'm making my delicious dip with triscuits for the party. We're expecting at least 32 people for Thursday's main event.

Person: Christmas Eve, tell me about that.

Me: Ever since I joined the choir, it was time to sign the lord's praises for his birth. There's always a good message during the service. One year, Pastor Mark talked about Mr. Machine... Another year, Dr. Carroll Yingling spoke about why we can't be afraid on Christmas... This year, who knows what's up his sleeve. He always has a great speech to give. Something that's happy and makes us all feel good this grand night of nights. The choir will usually have 5 songs with the ultimate anthem at the end of the hallelujah chorus. As with de jure policy, all people must remain standing during the hallelujah chorus.... and.

Person: Huh? I thought everyone just sat down and listened

Me: Nope. Legend states in 1743, King George II was so moved by the hallelujah chorus, that he stood in reverence of the "Lord of Lords" and when the King stands... EVERYONE STANDS!

Person: Odd... but none the less, fascinating it seems.

Me: That's when I have to turn the volume up to 11 to get everyone to hear me. It's probably one of the most finest pieces of music ever done. It is however dictated that we should be singing it at Easter.

Person: It sounds like a wonderful service.

Me: It definitely is. The church makes the most out of its night by hosting 3 services beginning at 5pm with the Kids and Family "Merry Mayhem" service with skits and fun stuff. At 7pm, it's the contemporary adonai service with the praise band and the theatre lighting. At 10:45pm, that's the main event, I call it our "Conference Championship" of services.

Person; Conference Championship?

Me: Yeah, it's definitely one of our prime services. Easter's the Super Bowl. Near the end of the service, people sing in candlelight: "Silent Night" and the atmosphere is just so quiet. It's amazing to see. O come all ye faithful is what kicks off the service and it's done with a BANG.

Person: You got titles for everything, don't you.

Me: Definitely. Christmas is a huge time of the year.

Person: I guess I'll be seeing you... next year.

Me: Yep!

Joshua's Mailbag: A Christmas Miracle

Let's dip into that mailbag... Our letters come from the Virgin Mary. Her and I had a long correspondence with each other.

--

Dear Joshua,

Hello, I have a problem, there was this archangel who just had a talk with me about me bearing the Son of God yet I am not betrothed to a man at all. What should I do? I mean, don't you find this really strange? I hear from a lot of your friends that you are solution finder and tops in problems.

Regards,
Mary.

---

Hey Mary,

Well thanks. Nah, it's not strange at all. You were picked as the chosen one by the Lord himself. In fact, that's what Gabriel said to you right? The holy spirit shall come upon you and with the Lord, nothing is impossible? Mary, I'm not catholic and I don't follow the Marian devotions, but I know darn well you are the mother of Jesus, who will be born soon. Look, you should just deal with this as the time goes by. Jesus will be preaching the all the worlds once he's born on that holy night. You're ok, nothing to fear! That's what the Angel said right?

Best wishes,
Joshua

--

Dear Joshua,

I'm still having the strangest time dealing with this Jesus thing. It's actually scary to think about this. I mean, I didn't do anything to really deserve this. What should I do?

Regards,
Mary.

--

Hey Mary,

Settle down. You have found favor with the Lord. You don't know that your cousin Elizabeth is pregnant as well with John the Baptist and she was considered barren. Whats worse is that Zechariah, her husband, can't talk until this happens. It's okay, you have nothing to be afraid of. You will be the mother of the Christ. The Christ who will save his people from sin.

Best wishes,
Joshua

--

Dear Joshua,

You mean to tell me that he's going to do all this?! I think you're crazy... But then again, you may not be... I just found out that you were right! Zechariah can't talk! Why did he not believe the angel that came from heaven! That's very strange of him not to believe these things! He's more than capable as a priest but this... I find seriously odd... Do you think he'll gain his speech back.

Regards,
Mary.

--

Hey Mary,

Yeah, he'll get his speech back once he names him John. It's all temporary of course. Zechariah was just frightened by what happened. He's got nothing to fear. As for you, just go about your business, and look forward to birthing the Christ Child.

Best wishes,
Joshua

--

Dear Joshua,

ZECHARIAH CAN TALK AGAIN! How can I ever thank you... Wait a minute! How did you know he would get his speech back!? Are you psychic!? Everyone said that we should name him after his father but Elizabeth pressed the issue that his name was going to be John. People questioned that decision because no one in her family was named John. Zechariah... all he did was write on a tablet that said: "His name is John" and that was it! He spoke! Isn't this great!? But as for me, I'm trudging on and still scared about birthing what could be the most important piece of human history... Is it ok to be frightened?

Regards,
Mary.

--

Hey Mary,

No I'm not psychic, I just read the bible, the most powerful book on the planet. Look, Elizabeth was ignoring everyone's calls for him to be named something other than John, she was following what Gabriel said. Zechariah spoke because he began believing again. He had his doubts because of his wife's age.

Look Mary, you shouldn't be frightened at all. Yes you are carrying the piece of human history and yes, it is a big deal... I hope Joseph is doing well and taking care of you. I heard the Roman Governors called a census and you better be getting back to Bethlehem where Joseph was born.

Best Wishes,
Joshua

--

Dear Joshua,

We're on our way to Bethlehem and Joseph keeps asking who I am writing to. I keep telling him a friend of mine... Man, I am tired, my feet hurt, what's next..

Regards,
Mary.

--

Hey Mary,

You'll know on December 25th, when we praise his holy name.

Best Wishes,
Joshua

--

Thank you Mary... and we'll dip into that mailbag again soon!

A Dying Christmas

Hello,

As we continue our journey to the manger through the tail-end of Advent, we continue to find controversies rocking the Christmas season to no end.

So far, FFRF (Freedom For Religion Foundation) has managed use many lawsuits this year involving some sort of Christmas or religious themed issue that one mere person will complain about. The threatening of a lawsuit has caused more than it's fair share of damage! Parades, plays, chorus concerts, and other assorted items were cancelled due to these things.

A few examples:

Piedmont, Alabama was forced to remove a nativity scene from their Christmas parade and not only that was told to take down the motto of "Keep Christ in Christmas" because ONE PERSON said that was a violation of separation of church and state because it was in fact the mayor's annual parade.

However, a WHP-TV report found that many Alabamians were not particularly pleased with this and vowed to fight back as they protested. It was to of no avail as the FFRF shouted "victory" again. Once again, Christians are persecuted for their beliefs and left hanging.

In Kansas, a Christmas Parade featuring a nativity scene, wise men, and shepherds was canceled due to the threat of a lawsuit from the FFRF and American Atheists. Kansans fought back but again, no avail... FFRF shouted victory again and moved on to their next target.

The Kansans didn't give up so easy. They protested but the FFRF said: "LAWSUIT!" and once again, the Christians had to walk away with their heads down and the bullies at the FFRF and American Atheists laughed hysterically.

The War on Christmas: Atheists win? NOT SO FAST

---

What is the reason for the season? It's Jesus of course. Without Jesus, we would not have Christmas. Without wise men, there'd be no gift-giving. Without Shepherds, we'd have no Christmas trees (Legend has it). December 25 would be merely just another day on the calendar... We'd be sad that there'd be nothing to celebrate, yet the atheists, agnostics, and humanists would be saying: "You can't celebrate a myth!"

But then again, why do I call this blog: "A Dying Christmas"?

Christians have been unable to fight back for Jesus' sake, the man who died on the cross for their sins. Every time the Christian populace tries to fight back, all the atheists have to do is say: LAWSUIT!

And that's the end of that... They win... We lose...

Christmas is slowly being killed off and in the future, I fear, it won't be a federal holiday anymore. Christmas will be outlawed by an atheist president and there will be no more tinsel, stars shining bright, it will just be darkness, and there will be no happiness

In the previous blog from my mailbag. A friend of mine whom's family was atheist finally saw the changes when she started going to church. Her health, grades, and everything improved because she kept Jesus in her heart at all time. Her brother started to believe as well after going to a Christmas Eve service. He enlisted in the military later on in life and spread the good word of Christ to his comrades. He's now a captain in the navy. Her dad started going and not only did he feel better about his life, he got a promotion at work and started going to bible studies and leading classes. Her mother on the other hand, it took awhile, but she finally started going as well. She began helping with orphanages and sick children in hospitals.

But I say to atheists: "How can you erase something that you guys just claim don't exist? One cannot rob an empty safe."

---

Christmas is a time of wonder, joy, excitement, and exhilaration. We gaze at the wonder that is Jesus. We sing his joy. We share the excitement of the wise-men and shepherds. We are exhilarated about his coming.

FFRF and American Atheists? It's just another day. If either of their organization headquarters have Christmas trees in their windows... Christians ought to tear them down and say: Hey! The Tree is a symbol of our savior's future dying on the cross. You have no business having one in your windows!!!!!!

If they exchange gifts... we should take away those gifts and say "Hey guys, sorry, you are not allowed to exchange gifts, the wise men started that."

We enjoy the gift giving that the wise men bestowed upon Jesus that first Christmas. The gold, frankincense, and myrrh are the symbols of the gifts he received.

---

It's time to celebrate a week of rejoicing as our lord and king approaches. Atheists need to stop ruining it for everyone!

Joshua's mailbag: Christmas Calamity

"Comfort ye my people." - Handel's Messiah.

"And there were in same country, shepherds keeping watch over their flocks by night and lo, an angel of the LORD came upon them, and the glory of the LORD shone round about them. They were so afraid. And the angel said to them: "Fear not! For behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a savior which is Christ the Lord and this will be a sign unto you. You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest! And on earth, peace and goodwill towards men." - Luke 2:4-14

"If we don't tell the real story of Christmas.... WHO WILL!?" - Charles Schulz to the CBS writers who believed no one would want to want Linus recite Luke 2. CBS believed they had a flop with "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

--

Another letter, this time from Balthazar...

Hey Josh!

Sorry I haven't written you sooner but we've been busy with trying to find the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Man I am tired. Caspar and Melchior are have also been called upon to find this babe as well but I have no way of contacting them. We've been following this really awesome star! It's brighter than bright! Speaking of which, I heard this Charlie Brown Christmas special nearly didn't happen because of the executives. This little guy named Linus told the truth about Christmas and I take it some people thought it was a fake? What about all these "I can't breathe" and "No Justice... No Peace" things. Enlighten us please.

~ Balthazar

--

In response:

Balthazar,

Yeah dude, they almost canceled "A Charlie Brown Christmas" because of some technicalities that the network executives DID NOT like.

1. They didn't like the fact they were using child actors without experience over adult actors. Charles Schulz was the creator and driving force behind this so naturally he had the final word in everything.

2. Network executives said: "Who's going to want to sit and listen to Linus do that bible verse?" Schulz in fact fired back with that quote I put. That was the truth.

Why was it necessary however:

1. That reading of Luke is extremely essential to the telling of the Christmas story.

2. In the end, nearly 61% of the American households tuned into the Charlie Brown special, beating expectations by an unbelievable margin.

Look man, Christmas is a huge deal to us Christians and it is one of the most important holidays in the history of humankind. People need to drop what they are doing to cause trouble and make peace with his or her fellow friend.

Today's world has a major problem. We see the "I can't breathe" or "Justice for Michael Brown" shirts and posters and yet this is supposed to be a time of peace, great joy, and wonder. A reading from Luke 2 would fix that real fast. I just wish these people would get off their high horse and celebrate the reason for the season. Balthazar, Michael Brown was stealing stuff from a store and everyone's acting like that's okay. A cop got shot at Mondawmin Mall and many people are praising it as justice!

What kind of a world do we live in nowadays. This world needs more Jesus in the world and it seems more and more that the politicians are bowing to pressure to take him out. More and more nativity scenes are being replaced or removed all together. We've taken prayer out of school and vice versa.

It's a sad world we live in and it's only getting worse.

Thanks for writing.

Joshua's Mailbag: Finding our faith

(Courtesy: OUTREACH.COM)

"Jesus is the reason for the season! If there was no Jesus, then there'd be no Christmas!" - Unknown

"Everything we Christians seem to do causes offense. Several radio stations had to turn their religious Christmas music songs off because they got complaints from people. What happened to us?" - Unknown

"Christmas is all about the great, historical, and decisive encounter between faith and mankind. He who has faith truly; Let him rejoice!" - Pope Paul VI

"Christmas is the time where hearts shall rejoice and the hatred will cease. It is a time of peace for all humankind." - Unknown

--

Into our mailbag we go!

Dear Josh,

I know you wanted to hear about my story about my new found faith and wanted to share it with everyone. My parents and entire family were atheist but one special Christmas Eve changed that forever. To begin, I never believed either until I got curious and started going to Sunday Chapel services with friends when I was about 12 years old. As time went on, I got more and more involved with Church Community projects and it was so much fun. Then one day, my mom eventually found out and yelled at me stating that I was worshiping a fraud and something that never existed. I was scared at first but I finally told my mom and said: "Look ma, I'm going to church because it helps me cope with life's struggles and problems!" My mom continued with: "Church does that!? What a crock! You won't go back to church and that's finally, this family does not worship frauds! WE DON'T WORSHIP ANYTHING!!!!" I continued to go to church without my family members. On Christmas Eve, my brother finally joined me. He got in the car and said: Drive. I said: I'm going to church. He said: That's right... so drive. As I drove to church in the pouring rain, I questioned why he was going to church with me and he said: "sounds to me like you are doing a lot of good with this Jesus in your life, maybe I should learn more about him." I nodded and told him I sang in the church choir as well. He said: "Jesus help you with that voice?" I smiled and said he helped me face down my fears.

After the service was over, I took my brother over to meet the priest and then he started to cry because he didn't believe in Jesus at all. The priest said: "Well son, have you found Jesus?" He said: "I... I really don't know if I have." The priest continued with: "Christmas is a time of family and faith. Jesus is in your heart at all times." The priest gave him his Christmas candle and said: "keep this and let it serve as a reminder that you found your faith in Jesus. He's the reason we were here tonight."

We came home and our parents confronted us. My father said: "Where were you guys?" I began with: "Well there's this church down the street...," My father stopped me and I figured he was going to give me a lot of guff but instead he said: "You know... I've been a little rough on you guys... and if this is what you want to do... by all means, go for it. It seems to be helping you guys." I was SURPRISED!!!!! My mom laughed and said: "Church? Helping them? How so!?" he turned to his wife and said: "Dear, I am really starting to believe that going to church has helped them significantly. Have you noticed that our little girl has been getting a lot better grades from middle school on into college and has been doing a lot of community work? Have you noticed how our son feels lost too but now he feels found thanks to church? Have you also noticed how we seem to turning down your parents a lot to come to Christmas dinner? You won't get many times with your parents much longer. Tell me guys, what made you start going to church?" He said in his lounge chair while mom was thinking really hard in that black chair of hers.

I stated that I felt lost in life and needed a pick-me-up. I wasn't doing good in school and my friends persuaded me to come to church even though our family was deeply committed atheists. Then I realized how much Jesus and the good book of the bible was helping to calm my fears as well as prayer too. My brother stated that he wanted to meet Jesus and say a prayer for relatives. Dad smiled and said: "It seems as though Jesus has helped you significantly. Tell you what, I'll come to church with you next Sunday... Dear, you're coming too." His wife said: "Oh no I am not." He calmly said: "Just try it, if you don't like it, don't come back. We're not forcing faith on you. We just ask you to try."

In the end, it all worked out, my mom started believing after a meeting with the priest and joined the women's club to help with orphanages and sick children. Now my family attends church every Sunday, we pray, and celebrate Christmas the right way. I am 32 years old, married to a wonderful man who is methodist like me, and have 2 great kids. I hope you and yours have a great CHRISTmas this season.

Thank you and Merry Christmas,
Friend

---

Faith... it's too powerful to ignore. This friend, who lives in New Mexico, taught herself that she can live by her own rules and start going to church. Christmas is a time to celebrate Jesus' birth to set us free from sin. I, myself, am not a bible thumper and do not force my religion on anyone. But I do want people to find their inner peace and solace this holiday no matter what faith they are.

Angels... we have heard on high.

O come... all ye faithful.

Hark! The herald angels sing!

Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

Jesus was brought here to bring peace to our broken world. Hearing these stories of people finding their faith is just electrifying and it makes the season that much brighter.

Do I have a problem with atheists and agnostics? It's their choice, I'm not forcing my faith on them. If they don't believe, they don't believe, it's none of my business. But certain atheists like Kathy Griffin, Richard Dawkins, and people who call themselves "militant atheists" need to get a life and stop destroying these things. Militant atheists attempt to force their non-religious beliefs on people.

Christians need to fight back at these guys and say: Hey guys, knock it off. We don't force on you, so don't force on us.

This is why this letter is so great to see. Thank you friend.

Always,
~ Joshua

Advent: A time of Celebration, Mystery, Wonder, and controversy

Hello,

As we celebrate advent, we prepare to celebrate Jesus's coming into our grand and broken world. Yes, our world is broken with controversies, protests, anger, and wars.

It's a time of celebration: We celebrate Jesus' birth with the lighting of the advent wreath, each candle brings us closer to Christmas. The joys of Christmas Eve, celebrating with our friends and family, holding candlelights while we sing "Silent Night", "Joy to the World", and ending it with the "Hallelujah Chorus"

It's a time of mystery: The joys of holy communion are the mysteries of faith. We look at the mysteries of the virgin birth of Jesus by Mary, the mystery of his blood and body given to us for the forgiveness of sins, the mystery of his resurrection after death on the cross.

It's a time of wonder: The wonders of his birth and majesty. How is he is the "Wonderful Counselor, The Almighty God, Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." He is "king of kings" and "lord of lords," We marvel at this wonder.

It's a time of controversy: A time where....

CONTROVERSY???

Wait, why do we have controversy? Because of the EVER GROWING and large war on Christmas. A day that atheists and agnostics celebrate, yet, they find every way to make it as secular as they possibly can.

---

The controversies stem from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the American Humanist Association, and American Atheists who continue to hold a knife to Christians throats saying: You do that and it's going to be a LAWSUIT!

Where is the good! Where's the happiness! WHERE IS THE GOOD NEWS!

---

A town called Piedmont, Alabama was having a parade for Christmas with a live nativity scene and a theme that said: "KEEP THE CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS." However, a complaint to the FFRF... said that they weren't allowed to do it.

The Piedmont parade went on as schedule but without the nativity scene and anything involving Christ.

Ok, first of all, the FFRF talks about CIVIL rights... Well what about Christian civil rights, they apparently do not exist. Christians are not allowed to have ANY sort of Christian item up near government places, at any fairs, nothing.. Whereas, it's ok to have a Menorah and Star and Crescent because those ACCORDING TO THE FFRF: are not religious symbols, they are cultural symbols.

Wait, Judaism and Islam are RELIGIONS, not cultures, RELIGIONS. So therefore, Christians such as myself, respect their civil rights that they enjoy as well.

So I ask the FFRF to please: LAY OFF! You guys have no business telling Christians what they can and cannot do.

It sickens me to no end on how Christians are persecuted for their beliefs. All they need is one complaint and they got all the ammo they will need.

I kindly ask that FFRF please stop persecuting Christians.

Thank you,
~ Joshua

Thanksgiving Day 2014: The Quorum results

Hello,

Thanksgiving is upon us and I think about all the distractions of a good meal and the parade. So I took a survey of 50 people, random selected, and asked them, what's one of the largest distractions in Thanksgiving.

Out of 50 people, 21 people said that football on television has become a major distraction and takes away from the true spirit of Thanksgiving.

Personally, I agree with them. The NFL needs to allow players to take Thanksgiving off and have a meal with their families before they get right back to work. Some traditions have to end and personally, this is one of them. I feel as though football has really taken away from family and friends really gathering to just chat.

I understand the need for the NFL to make revenue, but people, you seriously need to shut your sets off during Thanksgiving. In my opinion, networks should cease all programming until the next day after the parade is over with. Thanksgiving is about family right? Well, let's make it so.

One of the bigger shocks was the one person who said that family fights have turned into a huge issue. I read an article stating that fights within the family go up more than 26%.

The person who said it basically said that his daughter, wife, her mom, and sisters argue so badly on Thanksgiving, that he takes his laptop and headphones into the other room, puts them on, and shakes his head. The boys are pretty ignorant to whats going on until the "customary" breaking of the wine glass, then they get involved. Everyone at the meal table is silent.

One time, his daughter returned home from college for Thanksgiving with a boy that her mom did not approve of because he was verbally controlling and abusive. The father finally took action with that boy by kicking him out after he made a comment to the mother. He took his daughter out on a walk and had a very long talk with her about how a man needs to show a woman the right way to be treated. His daughter was crying and it was upsetting to see.

He told me how he finally lost his patience with his wife, daughter, and sisters and snapped at them berating them by telling them how the family lost the spirit of Thanksgiving and why family is such a big part of it.

He also emphasized the constant bickering that needed to end and the fighting needed to stop. The fighting did finally stop and I hope that his family finally sat down to a meal where there was laughing and talking.

Some of the other things that people said were: Preparing the food beforehand, keeping the kids out of trouble... Just some of the things we see.

Thanksgiving is a special time to get together and enjoy the fruits of our harvest. Do yourself a favor and take out the bible and read on the story of creation in the book of Genesis. You'll see why creation is such a big deal in our life and why we need to give thanks to the Almighty for HIS divine providence.
