Advent: A time of Celebration, Mystery, Wonder, and controversy

Hello,

As we celebrate advent, we prepare to celebrate Jesus's coming into our grand and broken world. Yes, our world is broken with controversies, protests, anger, and wars.

It's a time of celebration: We celebrate Jesus' birth with the lighting of the advent wreath, each candle brings us closer to Christmas. The joys of Christmas Eve, celebrating with our friends and family, holding candlelights while we sing "Silent Night", "Joy to the World", and ending it with the "Hallelujah Chorus"

It's a time of mystery: The joys of holy communion are the mysteries of faith. We look at the mysteries of the virgin birth of Jesus by Mary, the mystery of his blood and body given to us for the forgiveness of sins, the mystery of his resurrection after death on the cross.

It's a time of wonder: The wonders of his birth and majesty. How is he is the "Wonderful Counselor, The Almighty God, Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." He is "king of kings" and "lord of lords," We marvel at this wonder.

It's a time of controversy: A time where....

CONTROVERSY???

Wait, why do we have controversy? Because of the EVER GROWING and large war on Christmas. A day that atheists and agnostics celebrate, yet, they find every way to make it as secular as they possibly can.

---

The controversies stem from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the American Humanist Association, and American Atheists who continue to hold a knife to Christians throats saying: You do that and it's going to be a LAWSUIT!

Where is the good! Where's the happiness! WHERE IS THE GOOD NEWS!

---

A town called Piedmont, Alabama was having a parade for Christmas with a live nativity scene and a theme that said: "KEEP THE CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS." However, a complaint to the FFRF... said that they weren't allowed to do it.

The Piedmont parade went on as schedule but without the nativity scene and anything involving Christ.

Ok, first of all, the FFRF talks about CIVIL rights... Well what about Christian civil rights, they apparently do not exist. Christians are not allowed to have ANY sort of Christian item up near government places, at any fairs, nothing.. Whereas, it's ok to have a Menorah and Star and Crescent because those ACCORDING TO THE FFRF: are not religious symbols, they are cultural symbols.

Wait, Judaism and Islam are RELIGIONS, not cultures, RELIGIONS. So therefore, Christians such as myself, respect their civil rights that they enjoy as well.

So I ask the FFRF to please: LAY OFF! You guys have no business telling Christians what they can and cannot do.

It sickens me to no end on how Christians are persecuted for their beliefs. All they need is one complaint and they got all the ammo they will need.

I kindly ask that FFRF please stop persecuting Christians.

Thank you,
~ Joshua
